I am not so sure. Here we are, far enough in the future that 10 years either way should not make a huge difference in
historical perspective and
yet - the Mellotrons (and 70's in general) still hold up, and the DX7s and the ridiculous amounts of ultra-short, crazy-bright reverbs do not - at least not for me. Of course, TBH, I did not really care much for the 80's sound even in the 80's.
Some of the
music of the 80's was fine, but to me, the
overall production aesthetic was ... I don't know, kind of, well ....
