But with VSTs it's a lot more than I'd like. I'm sadly pretty sensitive to latency and not a great player so it does make a difference. In my production studio I have a Presonus Quantum which is one of the best latency performers so it's pretty noticeable to me.
I have the Quantum 2626 and was looking to upgrade my 500 series chassis. Of course, I only use the 2626 for the RTL and having another interface would be great. When looking at the 500r8 and the 500ADAT respectively, I still had some questions regarding capabilities, and it looks like you may know some of the answers from experience. I tried reading through the differences on Cranborne’s site but couldn’t quite figure a few things out.
I am mostly recording vocals in my studio and the rest are VST’s.
Would the 500r8 be able to connect via ADAT for the quantum, and if so, would the 500ADAT be able to connect to the 500r8 via C.A.S.T.? On their comparison page it has an “x” for the 500r8 being able to be an expander for another interface. I’m thinking aggregate would tank the RTL, so hoping it was just a list of what is intended, not what is possible.
The other question I had, if anyone knows, can you connect two 500ADAT units via C.A.S.T. Or does one unit need to be the 500r8? I’d like to use the summing mixing and if possible make it 16 instead of 8 in the future. If the 500r8 can’t work as an expander, just wondering if two 500ADAT’s could work to get to 16.
Thanks!
