I am not an analog purist. I am a hardware purist. Get it straight.
A fake hardware purist, because I use plugins too. But not only plugins, generally hardware does heavy lifting and software fine tuning. I will use software wherever I possibly can, where I think there is little to no sacrifice or it doesn't matter in the application. And for things analog can't do.
I am a professional and businessman who bears the ultimate responsibility for the costs and success of the project. I can't afford to waste time and money, nor can I afford compromises to quality, and one of many big parts of the job is balancing efficiency and quality, knowing where to pick your spots, being able to produce top quality as efficiently as possible.
For me, being that efficient and precise is the goal for its own sake. It is just like rebuilding car engines, squeezing every inch of performance and efficiency out of them, which is incredibly satisfying and therapeutic, and now I can call myself a real engineer.
