My creative flow is more sample- and patch-based than most. For example, I use tools like Sononym to find similar samples, then drop them into a folder and scroll through them as part of the process—rather than relying heavily on EQ or compression.
I do use modulation, delays, some reverb (less frequently), and saturation. When I use EQ, it’s usually broader strokes—like a high shelf, a bell, and a low shelf—and I tend to boost rather than cut, unlike most who go straight for high-pass filters.
As for the rest of the flow… you probably don’t want to know. It gets pretty far out there. I write my own plugins and sometimes edit audio down to the individual samples.
