Myself, I have preferred to take the REV2 out and leave the Prologue in the studio, not just because it's a DCO synth, but because I feel it's sturdier. However, the Prologue probably can handle gigging provided that good care with transport etc is taken.
I haven't actually looked for it, but I think the arp can't be subdivided (one division only) like the REV2 (for instance).
As the others have said, you can have one 16V synth, or two separate 8V synths (with different patches), layered or split.
Thanks. That's the arp running underneath it, it's great fun to play with it.
Thanks for that - bit disappointing on the arp, but not a huge deal. Far as sturdiness, I’m pretty nice to my gear, so I’m not too worried about it.
The REV2 is the obvious contender, esp given aftertouch (big appeal for me). But my first synth was a Mopho x4. Tonally never worked for me. No matter what I did, it always had a really aggressive/bright/fizzy top end/high mid. It never sat in the band I was trying to use it in at the time (singer basically forced me to use his microkorg instead, haha) and I couldn’t find a place for it in other music I made, so it just sat there.
I understand the Prophet 8/REV2 is the same lineage. I feel like I hear that same brightness in Prophet 6 demos, too. Sounds huge and good, but not for me. Maybe the DSI osc character and I just don’t get along, I think I like something a bit darker.
