I have old sessions in Triumph as well. I also had a hard drive crash early in my career that made me think very hard about future proofing myself.
Making a reasonable statement to clients that projects will only be archived and accessible for one year after approval/completion is a great way to prevent stress about losing sessions or files, software becoming obsolete, or selling unique sounding hardware.
If you’re prone to stress, maybe reduce that time to 6 months
For those of you who were mid project, that reallly sucks. It must have been really unfortunate timing. I personally avoid all changes to my system until I have all projects complete. Sometimes this only happens once a year, but it’s gotta wait. Computers are certainly not reliable enough to assume something as simple as updating is going to go well. There have been a few times where I lost a half day or more from in update breaking something. Can’t run a business like that.
Don’t mean to sound preachy about this. My feelings are more like “stupid computers. I love and hate them.” Haha
