Post mixer, pre-filter would seem to be the optimal insert point. This is where it is on the Voyager, and putting a boost pedal in there turns it into a different instrument. That would allow you to bypass the conservative gain structure into the filter when using a mono voice, and you could out and out have an overdriven signal into the filter if you choose. Putting it after the filter makes less sense, as you can always run the actual output into whatever if you want to effect the filtered sound. Send it on a Sub out if you want.
