Strange predictions !
Here in France, one year after the end of covid restrictions, most pro estimate that 30% of the audience for live events is still missing compared to the pre-covid era.
Not only in music events, but in the cinema venues, art exhibitions etc. etc.
Many factors are at play : fear for covid infection, new habits (listening to music or watching for movies at home instead of going out), economical issues (a lot of people don't know if they will still have money in the next year, or already lost jobs), etc. etc. etc.
You'll notice that live music weight much more than recorded music in the Goldman Sachs graph.
They expect a big rise in streaming incomes in the next years, but I doubt people will spend "much more" money than now in streaming. Some boomers that don't use streaming will die and some young guys will arrive on the market, but boomers spend much more money buying CDs than young guys streaming music, so I don't think it will bring anything positive.
And the global economy doesn't look bright at all for the next years, specially that we are only starting to see with this war in Ukraine how looks the age of expensive ressources and rarity (rarity of oil, of water, of minerals, of energy...). It will be the normality in few years, because it's been predicted since years and nobody is doing nothing...
So I don't see any bright future for music industry in the next years.
But hey, I'm not Goldman Sachs so who cares...
