Yes, I believe that to be the case. I was getting it confused with EQ bands being enabled, which Acustica started doing with Cherry and Cardinal. With the Hyper tech (1% CPU usage with preamp enabled compared to what it used to be) and the fact that a big part of Purple's sound is the tube makeup gain, this should have been reconsidered though.

I can't remember whether or not it was mentioned here on GS, but (just a heads up) there is a little issue with the preamps in the CARDINALPRE and CARDINALEQ plugins:

When you turn on the 'ULTRA' switch, which slightly rolls off the lows and the highs, those roll-offs remain even when you disengage the 'ULTRA' switch. You can see what I'm talking about if you examine those plugins in PluginDoctor's LinearAnalysis window. You can get the plugins back to their non-'ULTRA' curves by turning their preamps off, disengaging their 'ULTRA' buttons, and then turning their preamps back on. Well, either that or reload the plugins.
I submitted a ticket to AA on this issue ten months ago. The A028 - 04 Jun 2025 update did not fix the issue (not that it was meant to).
