The problem with these teasers is they’re so open ended that fail to pique your interest (well, mine at least). It might as well be a DAW (yawn). Hint that it’s a console and you grabbed people’s attention even before you say anything concrete. Anyway, we’ll see.

I heard this will be the next UF8/UF1 in a format that is closer to Avid S4 and also an excellent DAW to go along with it. There will be slots available to plug in analog SSL hardware in a similar format to what McDSP APB units - plenty of expansion and the ability to still get full controller functionality with 0 analog units. I’m not sure what they will be offering in terms of subscription and warranty though… guessing not good since I didn’t hear about those details

Wow that sounds amazing. Very ambitious. My SSL Matrix is worried (but it's not going anywhere). Sounds like 'Lego SSL' v2 - I'm still on v1!

I wonder if they'll include summing now that the Sigma is dead.

My sources tell me they are doing a limited run of Colin Sanders polyesters neck ties. (As in the one modelled in their Insta picture.)

After their last big announcement, which turned out to be a cheap USB interface, I wont get excited.

I caught myself dreaming ..

SSL Revolution 360°, a 16-track hybrid desk with 360° integration and digitally controlled analogue channel strips and bus compressors.

If you think about the 360° software, everything is in place and just waiting to be fulfilled by the appropriate hardware. Even the mixer view icon shows a proper console along with the icons for the interfaces and controllers, as if it already knows there will be a 360° enabled full desk soon. The reason I dreamed about having actual analogue channel strips and bus compressors is because I can't imagine SSL framing their new product so heavily without incorporating their legendary analogue world into the new product. U-Series is a huge leap regarding bringing the console workflow to the next digital level, but a real revolution would be a fully digitally controlled analogue desk, right? Best of both worlds. No compromises.

4x bus compressors in a 16 channel mixer is getting a little greedy now

If they can make it truly modular/expandable so that you can have 8-48 channels, that would really be something. Wish I could add another 8 to my Matrix! Eventually I'll end up with an AWS24/48...

Meterbridge is a must...

I just wish they made a modular console that could be purchased in tranches. Like you start with a bare bones set of pres and faders for say 8 channels, and you can gradually add more functionality by getting more modules. That would make acquisition much less intimidating.

Oh gosh you're right, didn't even think about the modular potential here. I have all three U-controllers and would love to expand them to a bigger console ... but I think from product management perspective it makes more sense to offer a new premium category of those digital controllers. They are like a low barrier entry into SSL console workflows but then you have the premium SuperAnalogue 360 enabled desks from 16 to 32 channels ...

Let's keep in mind what they write on their page:
So its:

1. Pioneering > never seen before
2. Redefining professional studio workflow > Not home studios and more than just an interface
3. Reshape music production and mixing > Definition of a console (or a DAW, but it has to be hardware plus software, most probably SSL 360 because it already has everything it needs to control hardware in full scale

well consider me curious....
