Thanks for the info, I'll hang onto Maschine then and will aim to get my hands on the Tempest sometime.

they compliment each other extremely well in my opinion. Both are very analog but very different.

The Tempest can create a much broader range of sounds, its much more like starting from scratch (the way I use it) when creating sounds.

The MKIII is more dialed into a specific sound per voice. They make it easy for you to dial in a kick because the kick channel is set up to do so etc.

I like to multitrack everything so the 6 outs from the Tempest + the 8 outs from the vermona are quite a few inputs to deal with, in a good way :-)

I'm not sure If I just shared anything with you that you didnt already know but to summarize I think these two machines are absolutely different enough to justify having both. The workflows are very different and having them play together is just too much fun.

I'm still getting my Template dialed in (in Logic) so that I can start new sessions with the two machines & just start going at it! If you use Logic and are at all interested, I can send you my template when I'm finished.

Machinedrum SPS1 UW+ (love this a lot - gets about 80% of the workload)
Korg ElecTribe Sampler mkII (not fussed in the studio so much any more, but great for live sample triggering)
Yamaha RX5 (great retro digital drums)
Hammond Auto Vari 64 (old organ-type drum sounds, but great for some basic analogue grooves)

misc. stuff:
monotribe (drums on it occasionally find a use)
casio SK1 (who cannot like this?!?)
various other crappy old keyboards with drum patches (come in handy sometimes)
record player and old records (adding dirt /ambiance to the dry drum machine stuff)

MPC3000. Never had a standalone drummachine.
I an curious what drum machine was used in house \ HI NRG of the 90s for kicks such as attached. Kind of 909ish, but I doubt 909 is capable of such sounds.

^ you're wrong a 909 is more than capable of that sound, it's pretty much considered the ultimate kick machine in all of EDM. it's also capable of a wide variety of kick sounds thanks to the built-in analog parameters, it also responds a lot to outboard techniques, most edm producers with a 909 have their specific chains to get the most out of it.. it's my favorite drum machine, i think i like it more than my 808..

I currently own a MPC 3000 LE and a vermona DRM1 MKII. I used to own a Jomox 999 and I am considering buying another one to slave to the MPC. All three have a completely different sound and compliment each other perfectly. The Vermona is clean and precise, the 999 is raw and snappy and the MPC 3000 is crisp and punchy. They all occupy a different space in the mix.

I don't have any right now. I used to have an SR-16 but I never liked the sounds so I wound up selling it. If I were to get another drum machine it'd be an 808 or some old Roland rhythm machine like a TR-66.

For the 909 BD you could try the Jomox M Base 11

Vermona DRM1 MK3 - In daily use. My fav is the snare which packs considerable low-end but also excels in high-pitched reverb-y sounds.

MAM ADX-1 - lo-fi and quirky, could be useful for a number of electronic genres but I have yet to make the most of its sounds.

MFB 503 - worth buying for the BD alone. Also a nice snare sound.

MPC 2500 - mostly sampling 707, Linn Drum, Simmons and the likes. I do all my drum sequencing with the 2500.

The most unusable modul is the hihat. Can't get a good sounding hihat out of it. But as I use the ADX1 just for background loops filling up my drums, it doesn't really matter.

With a good pre the ADX1 sounds very punchy. The kick can be very deep and huge. It's a secret bargain.

As I sold my Vermona, I don't own any drum machines at the moment. The Monomachine takes care of the drums for now.

Looking to buy a Machinedrum and an MPC3000 though, when I get money.

Haha maybe not such a realistic hihat, but that's one of my favourite sounds on it. I've been topping the whole drum machine off with a Tip Top 808 bassdrum and snare, to great effect.
