"[IMG]https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/xfxZfjJ\/IMG-20190109-205248-602.jpg[\/IMG]\n\nI'm an SP head and software engineer with a small bit of knowledge in electronics and I have started working on a replica of the SP using an Arduino & Raspberry Pi.\nBasically the same appearance, same layout, same user interface, same features but all with some nice modern touches and extra bells and whistles.\nPossibly same filter and AD\/DA if it's doable (actively researching right now) although that's not my priority. I'm mainly doing this for the workflow and ease of use which is one of my favourite things about the SP. \n\nSome of the updates to the original design I have planned are:\n[LIST]\n[*]A more compact layout, with knobs instead of faders\n[*]Portable, with the option to either run on battery or plugged into the wall\n[*]Some effects (reverb, delay, compression, etc...) assignable to individual sounds\n[*]Access to external usb storage in addition to the internal storage which is an SD card\n[*]Sounds stored in wav, so you can just copy\/paste to and from a computer\n[*]Wireless transfer of sounds to\/from a phone or pc\n[*]The ability to both tune AND decay a sound (one of my pet peeves with the SP haha)\n[*]Access to a lot more sample time if you want to, but also the option to keep the same 10s & 2.5s limitations\n[\/LIST]\n\n[B]And whichever good ideas other SP heads and producers (that's y'all) can come up with[\/B]\n\nI have made some good progress so far just about a week into the project, here's a video of the prototype in action.\nYou can see more and follow the development on my instagram [MENTION=131746]Low[\/MENTION]_Hiss\n\n[YOUTUBE]https:\/\/youtu.be\/-Sjz7wM88VI[\/YOUTUBE]\n\nCurrently working features (will try to keep this up to date):\n[LIST]\n[*]The 4 banks of 8 pads wired and working, playing sounds and able to be cycled through\n[*]8 pots wired and able to control volume or pitch of the individual sounds from all 4 banks\n[*]Overall volume knob\n[*]Multi-pitch mode\n[*]Multi level mode\n[*]16x2 LCD Display like the original SP\n[*]The interface for all the menus in Setup, and the Song & Seq screens\n[\/LIST]\n\nLet me know what you guys think, does it make sense as a project in today's market? What would you like to see on an SP clone? Any feedback is welcome.\n\n[IMG]https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/T2ygT8F\/IMG-20190116-171801.jpg[\/IMG]\n[IMG]https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/mh69VVc\/IMG-20190116-173331.jpg[\/IMG]\n[IMG]https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/xYDJXsr\/IMG-20190116-172854.jpg[\/IMG]"
